Marine Research - Bermuda


Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences is located in St Georges Bermuda. Building the future of marine science, this 14,000 sq ft new build facility is a dedicated state of the art laboratory and teaching facility, adjoining the existing Reiss Conklin Labs.

Designed by senior Architect Brian Macdonald and senior Design Associate, whilst at Linberg and Simmons, this new genomic lab was completed in 2004 and accommodates an expanded molecular marine biology program, which uses innovative tools and techniques of genomic and genomic engineering to investigate chemicals produced by marine organisms for potential pharmaceutical and other applications.

The project was funded by a wealthy individual who donated funds for the facility. The Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences which was founded in 1903 as the Bermuda Biological Station
